Loyalty Rewards Support The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre

Give back with every sip!

When you sign up for Water Street’s Loyalty Rewards, you earn three reward points for every dollar you spend at any of our café locations. These points can be redeemed for discounts, OR you can choose to donate a portion directly to our Featured Non-Profit. As we celebrate our 30th anniversary this year, Water Street will be matching donations at the end of each quarter for our Featured Non-Profits of 2023. From October through December 2023, our Featured Non-Profit is the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre.

Since its beginning in 1929, the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre has been a cornerstone in the arts community of Kalamazoo. They have several outreach partnerships such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kalamazoo and the Kalamazoo Parks and Recreation department. They also participate in many events such as the Kalamazoo Pride Festival and the Kalamazoo Holiday Parade. The mission of the Civic is to create and deliver engaging, inspiring theatrical productions and educational experiences that spark delight, build community, encourage conversations, and foster social justice and anti-racism.

From 1929 to the present, the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre has been at the forefront of community theatres in America. From its beginning, it has been praised by the public and its peers as one of the outstanding examples of just what can be done with a “civic” or community theatre. What started as a tiny band of people producing a few plays in Lincoln School auditorium in the summer of 1929, has grown to be one of the premier community theatres in the country.

The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre is a theatre for all. Each year thousands of patrons enjoy their many productions, and hundreds of students take classes through the Civic’s Acadamy of Theatre Arts, and 750 volunteers make up their cast and crew and administrative help. The Civic is committed to inclusiveness and practices open and non-traditional casting. Working towards a goal to faster and develop theatrical talent in our community and encourage anyone, regardless of experience, to audition for their productions. The Academy of Theatre Arts is pleased to offer free Audition Workshops for each production season. For 2023-2024 season Auditions and Workshops, visit their website.

Water Street is proud to support the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre and we hope that you can help us in this effort. Supporting non-profits throughout Kalamazoo county.
