When you sign up for Water Street’s Loyalty Rewards, you earn three reward points for every dollar you spend at any of our café locations. These points can be redeemed for discounts OR you choose to donate a portion directly to our Featured Non-Profit. From October through December 2026, our Featured Non-Profit is the NAMI Southwest Michigan.

For more than 35 years, NAMI Southwest Michigan has been working to make sure individuals and families affected by mental health conditions don’t have to face those challenges alone.

NAMI Southwest Michigan was founded in 1989 when a small group of Kalamazoo families came together around a shared need: to support one another and create a local source of understanding, education, and connection. What started with a handful of families has grown into a regional organization serving communities throughout Southwest Michigan.

Today, NAMI Southwest Michigan provides education, support, advocacy, and resources for individuals living with mental health conditions, as well as their families, caregivers, educators, young people, and community partners. Through support groups, educational programs, community outreach, and partnerships with schools, colleges, healthcare providers, and other organizations, NAMI reaches thousands of people each year.

One of the organization’s signature events is NAMIWalks, bringing together individuals, families, mental health professionals, and community supporters to raise awareness and support local mental health programs. NAMI Southwest Michigan also participates in health fairs, community events, school programs, and speaking engagements. Through programs like Ending the Silence, volunteers bring mental health education directly to young people, helping them recognize warning signs and learn how to support themselves and others.

At the heart of NAMI Southwest Michigan is its incredible team of volunteers. The organization is 100% volunteer-led, with many volunteers bringing their own lived experiences—or the experiences of loved ones—to the work they do. That shared understanding creates a unique sense of connection and reminds people that they are not alone.

From a small group gathered around a kitchen table to a growing community of support, NAMI Southwest Michigan continues to build awareness, challenge stigma, and create pathways to hope.

Water Street’s Loyalty Rewards Program began in 2018 and features a new non-profit each quarter. With the help of our customers, we've been able to give a total of $20,841 to non-profit organizations to help support the important work they do in our community.
