These points can be redeemed for discounts, OR you can choose to donate a portion directly to our Featured Non-Profit. From April through June 2023, our Featured Non-Profit is AACORN.
AACORN, Adult Agricultural Community Option for Residential Needs, is an organization that's mission is to provide life enrichment opportunities and residential options for adults with intellectual and developmental differences in a supportive inclusive community.
In the summer of 2013, the AACORN skill-building program opened at Tillers International in Scotts Michigan. It started with five young adults learning animal care, gardening, arts and crafts, and outdoor activities that emphasized fitness, teamwork, and positive responses to others. As AACORN quickly grew, the program expanded to four days a week and served 20 adults when it relocated properties in 2014. In 2018, 40 acres was purchased from Tillers International and now houses the Dr. Liz Farner Activities Building. This new facility allowed the program to expand to more opportunities such as a full commercial kitchen that brings greater educational ability to utilize farm direct items such as participant-grown produce
AACORN participates in various events in the community including the Autism Walk that is hosted yearly by the Autism Support Center of SW Michigan. They also have their own Golf Outing Fundraiser taking place in June at the Gull Lake View Golf Resort and their annual Fall Celebration.
Water Street is proud to support AACORN and we hope that you can help us in this effort.
