Fair Trade Bolivia Caranavi La Paz

Fair Trade Bolivia Caranavi La Paz

This coffee comes to us from La Cooperativa Corpus Cristhy Illampu R.L, a coop located in the Caranavi province of La Paz. This coop is dedicated to the growth of both the quality and the quantity of production of specialty coffees. Coffee production throughout Bolivia has alway taken a backseat to the production of Coca plants, which thrive in the mountainous terrain, but has recently been promoted through the National Strategy for Sustainable Integral Development as a way to diversify the country’s dependency on the Coca plants in its economy. Within this expansion of coffee production, Felix Chambi has spearheaded the specialty coffee movement. He currently has the only SCA-certified sensory lab in the country, working directly with producers to improve growing practices that impact the quality of the cup.
