When you sign up for Water Street’s Loyalty Rewards, you earn three reward points for every dollar you spend at any of our café locations. These points can be redeemed for discounts, OR you can choose to donate a portion directly to our Featured Non-Profit. As we celebrate our 30th anniversary this year, Water Street will be matching donations at the end of each quarter for our Featured Non-Profits of 2023. From July through September 2023, our Featured Non-Profit is KVCC Foundation.

Kalamazoo Valley Community College Foundation advocates for and financially supports KVCC students and programs. Their overall vision is to remove financial barriers for all KVCC students giving more equal opportunities. 

The Foundation was established in 1980 as a charitable organization with the sole purpose to support the college and its students. Raising funds for a number of initiatives, the foundation was able to complete numerous construction projects such as the Kalamazoo Valley Museum and Bronson Healthy Living Campus along with raising over $500,000 in scholarships to awarded to students on an annual basis. 

Each year, the Foundation has its Opportunities for Education fundraising event. This year, the event will be taking place on Thursday, September 28, at the Food Innovation Center on Crosstown Parkway. This event features a variety of chefs in the region, including student and faculty chefs from the KVCC Culinary Program. Guests will enjoy a walk-around tasting to sample each of the chefs signature dishes.

Donations to the KVCC Foundation go very far. The vast majority of the operating costs of the Foundation are provided by the college, which means that well over 95% of contributions go towards the KVCC programs. With a tuition rate that is in the bottom half compared to all Michigan Community Colleges, a $500 scholarship can cover the tuition cost for an entire class! Water Street’s Loyalty Rewards Program began in 2018 and features a new non-profit each quarter. With the help of our customers, we've been able to give a total of $12,700 to non-profit organizations to help support the important work they do in our community.
