Timor Leste Maubesse

The history of Timor Leste, an island nation situated between the Indonesian archipelago and Australia, is as unique and interesting as the coffee it produces. Technically a part of Asia, the Island of Timor is split in two, with the western half a part of Indonesia while the eastern half is its own country. East Timor declared independence and became a sovereign nation in May of 2002, making it one of the youngest countries in the world. It is one of the most coffee dependent countries in the world as well, with coffee being its chief export commodity and compromising 24% of its economy.

Coffee from this tiny Island nation is unique in that it produces some of the only washed processed coffee in the Indonesian region. It also is the origin of a spontaneous hybrid of Arabica and Robusta beans, called the Timor Hybrid variety.

Cozy and comforting, look for a sweet, syrupy cup teaming with bold chocolate and vanilla notes accompanied by subtle baking spices, such as anise and cardamom.
