Ethiopia Guji Natural

This lot comes from the Kayon Mountain Coffee Farm, a large coffee farm consisting of 500 hectares of land and spanning altitudes between 1900-2200 masl. The farm is owned and operated by Ismael Hassen Aredo and his family. They employ 25 permanent and about 300 seasonal workers every year and are meticulous in their growing practices and processing of the cherries, which is done on site. They utilize both the washed and the natural methods of processing the coffee, though this selection is natural processed. For this, the coffee is left out to dry in the sun on raised beds over the course of 4-6 weeks before being milled, which separates the fruit from the seeds, or beans.

The resulting cup is both soft and sweet, a fruity medley of blueberry, blackberry, strawberry and raspberry. Combined with the brown sugar sweetness of the coffee, this coffee is reminiscent of raw berries, as well as a berry crumble.
